Monday Kickstart - St. Louis

One of the most exciting Monster Energy Supercross series in recent memory is quickly coming to a close, and the action at round 14 in St. Louis didn’t disappoint. James Stewart finally got another win after a winless streak since Anahiem II, Barcia took home his third win of the season, and much more. Most of the riders had nothing but good to say about the track in St. Louis. According to the track map, though, it was slightly different than what was originally planned. The old track map had the track cutting across the start line a couple times, but as you can see that wasn’t the case in the final product. There were also some rollers in the first turn that got removed and another section was changed before the start of the final qualifying practice

Following the first practice session, a few riders voiced their opinions about one section in particular where a roller before a double was causing a lot of riders trouble. Here, Ryan Villopoto and Chris Blose talk about their concerns with FIM official John Gallager. St. Louis was also the track last year that caused Villopoto to get thrown violently over the bars and ultimately end his season with a badly broken leg.

The roller leading up to the double ended up getting almost removed completely before the final SX class practice session hit the track. Here, Short and Blose look on while the Dirt Wurx crew does their thing.

While K-Dub’s transfer is impressive in the previous sequence, it’s almost child’s play when compared to what he actually does when the show begins. With the lights off, and lit by nothing but a couple spotlights, Windham hit the same jump.

Ryan Dungey ha tenido que esperar hasta la duodécima carrera del Campeonato del Mundo y AMA de Supercross para obtener su primera victoria. Y ello le ha valido para situarse muy cerca del nuevo líder, Chad Reed, quien terminaba segundo y adelantaba en la provisional a Ryan Villopoto, que sólo pudo terminar noveno. En 250 Costa Este, la victoria iba a parar a manos de Dean Wilson.

El "holeshot" enToronto lo obtenía un sorprendente Fabien Izoird, seguido del propio Dungey, quien se ponía en primera posición antes de finalizar el primer giro. Reed y Nick Wey iban lanzados a la captura de los dos primeros, mientras que James Stewart y Villopoto, tras una mala salida, no tenían más remedio que remontar. De hecho, sus problemas no quedarían ahí, pues en la tercera vuelta, ambos se iban por los suelos al tocarse sus motos.

A mitad de carrera, Dungey sigue primero, con Reed y Trey Canard en posiciones de podio. Stewart ha logrado encaramarse a la cuarta plaza y Villopoto intenta mejorar algunos puestos, ya que está colocado en el puesto décimo sexto.

La pelea por el primer puesto es increíble, con Reed a tres segundos de Dungey, mientras que Canard se ha descolgado y rueda a unos 15 segundos cuando apenas quedan unas vueltas para terminar la carrera. Éste es finalmente el podio de la carrera, mientras que Stewart se tiene que conformar con el cuarto puesto, y Villopoto, con el noveno.
